Toronto residents can expect strong wind gusts of up to 80 kilometres per hour Friday evening.
A special weather statement was issued by Environment Canada in the late afternoon for the Toronto area.
βLoose objects may be tossed by the wind and cause injury or damage,β read the statement, which reminded people that gusty winds can damage soft shelters, such as tents and awnings.
βWinds could further damage trees or structures already weakened from recent storms.β
Toronto Hydro stated in a Tweet that they are experiencing βscattered outagesβ across the city. βCrews are responding as quickly and safely as possible,β Toronto Hydro said.
The wind gusts are expected to end later this evening, according to the statement.
