Video: ‘So scared’: Family members of woman killed in triple murder-suicide speak out
CASSELBERRY, Fla. — Four people were killed in what police said was a murder-suicide in Casselberry on Tuesday.
Police are trying to figure out why a man shot and killed his wife, mother-in-law and stepson before turning the gun on himself.
The shooting happened inside a condo off Coawood Court.
Channel 9 spoke with the wife’s family members, who said the woman’s name was Zuleka Lopez.
Lopez, along with her 15-year-old son Victor and her mother Mileda, were killed by her husband, whom family members identified as Carlos.
They said Lopez was scared every day of what her husband would do.
Engley Maria is Lopez’s aunt. She said Lopez feared her husband for all five years of their marriage.
Maria said Lopez was worried about her life, and those of her mom and son, but she never thought something like this would happen.
Lopez’s cousin, Diane Carolina, was crying outside of her home.
“He was so jealous with her. With her family. With everybody,” Carolina said.
Both women said Lopez was too scared to leave and that was why she reached out to them for help.
“Every day she came to our house and said ‘I feel so scared. I just feel so scared about him,’” Carolina said.
Maria said Lopez was smart, educated and worked two jobs while Carlos was crumbling.
Police said that in the past, Lopez reported that her husband was jealous and suspected infidelity. They said he was following her around.
Lopez’s family said she wasn’t strong enough to leave on her own and that was why she reached out to the police for help.
